In this short newsletter we focus on news snippets covering events, information resources, and reports released:

·  GREEN INFRASTRUCTURE REPORT ISSUED. Comhar have just launched a research report focusing on Green Infrastructure - a methodology for incorporating biodiversity, recreational and other green space requirements into planning.  The report entitled ‘Creating Green Infrastructure for Ireland’. The report sets out a broad definition of Green Infrastructure and explores and proposes an approach and a set of principles that should be followed in Green Infrastructure planning. The report is based substantially on the outcome of a Compass-led baseline study.  For more and to download the report please visit our Green Infrastructure page.

·  GeoDATA LOCATION EVENTS. Glasgow, 10 November 2010; Belfast 16 November 2010.  Geodata - Download flyer here. Compass will present at these events and in the events planned for 2011 across Britain and Ireland.

·  INSPIRE AND SDI WEB RESOURCE UPDATED.  We have brought our reference and guidance materials up to date at our inspire.compassinformatics.eu website.  Access is open to all once registered on the site.  The site includes all the latest versions of all official documentation, plus some supporting SDI material, copies of selected presentations made by Compass staff at INSPIRE/SDI events, a paper on valuing geographic information written by Roger Longhorn - our senior analyst, and a general restructuring of the material to make it more usable and accessible - relatively speaking!

·  CLOUD COMPUTING FOR BIODIVERSITY. In order to support the development and deployment of a new map and data viewer for marine biodiversity data we have been deploying a new mapping system on the Amazon Cloud.  The system uses a highly interactive and attractive Silverlight interface.  Contact us to discuss how applicable this approach is to your requirements.

·  WELCOME TO OLIVER - Oliver Castle, a .Net ArcGIS Server developer has just joined our systems services team.  Good to have another cyclist in the company.
